Frequently Asked Questions

PM Kisan provides ₹6,000 per year to eligible farmers, paid in three installments of ₹2,000 each. Payments are made directly to the farmer's Aadhaar-linked bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer every four months — typically in April, August, and December.
The following categories are excluded from PM Kisan: current and former government employees, income taxpayers (who paid tax in last two years), doctors, lawyers, chartered accountants and other professionals, constitutional post holders, and farmers with land holdings above 2 hectares. If any family member meets these criteria, the household is ineligible.
Common reasons for PM Kisan payment failure: (1) Aadhaar not linked to bank account — visit your bank to link. (2) Name mismatch between Aadhaar and bank records. (3) eKYC not completed — do eKYC at pmkisan.gov.in or Common Service Centres. (4) Land records not updated in state revenue department. (5) Account is inactive or closed. Check your status at pmkisan.gov.in → Beneficiary Status.
PM Kisan eKYC can be done online at pmkisan.gov.in by entering your Aadhaar number and OTP (sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number). If your mobile number is not linked to Aadhaar, visit a Common Service Centre (CSC) or Aadhaar Seva Kendra for biometric eKYC. eKYC is mandatory to continue receiving PM Kisan payments.
If you are eligible but not registered, apply at pmkisan.gov.in → "New Farmer Registration." You need your Aadhaar number, Aadhaar-linked mobile number, land records, and bank account details. Alternatively, visit your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC) or the Agriculture Department office to apply with assistance. After submission, verification is done by the state/district administration.
