How to Apply — Step by Step

Note: Yogyashree currently follows an offline application process — there is no dedicated online portal.

Step 1: Watch for the Notification

A new batch is announced each year between April and June. Notifications appear at:

  • District Magistrate (DM) Office notice boards
  • Backward Classes Welfare (BCW) Department offices
  • School principals (for notified schools)
  • District education office websites and local newspapers

Regularly check with your DM Office or school principal from April onwards: "Has the Yogyashree notification arrived?"

Step 2: Collect the Application Form

Forms are available from:

  • Zila Parishad / DM Office
  • BCW Department Office
  • Your school principal (if it is a notified centre)
  • District website — occasionally uploaded as a PDF

Step 3: Fill and Submit the Form

  • Fill all details accurately — double-check before submitting
  • Attach self-attested copies of all required documents
  • Submit physically to the DM Office or BCW Office
  • Collect an acknowledgement receipt — keep it safe

Deadline: Usually 2–3 weeks after the notification is released. Do not delay.

Step 4: Written Screening Test

  • Not all applicants are selected — a written screening test is conducted
  • Test covers Class 10-level Mathematics, Science and Logical Reasoning
  • A merit list is prepared after the test for final selection

✅ Step 5: Final Selection & Joining

  • Selected students receive a joining letter with centre address, reporting date and instructions
  • Centres are typically at district headquarters or reputed institutions in Kolkata
  • Original documents must be presented for verification at the time of joining

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Is Yogyashree Scheme open to General category students?

Yes. General category students with family income below ₹2.5 lakh per year and 70%+ in Class 10 are fully eligible.

Q2: Is the coaching genuinely free?

Yes. There are no charges for registration, coaching, study materials, or mock tests. A ₹300/month stipend is also provided, and hostel facilities are available at many centres.

Q3: Can I apply if I am already in a private coaching institute?

You can apply, but if selected you will be expected to discontinue private coaching, as Yogyashree operates as a full-time residential/committed programme.

Q4: When does the 2026 admission open?

Between April and June 2026. Check your DM Office, BCW Department, and school notice boards from April onwards for the official notification.

Q5: What happens at the screening test?

A written test covering Class 10-level Maths, Science and Logical Reasoning. Students who score well are shortlisted for the final merit list. Strong Class 10 marks improve your chances significantly.
